I’m on a bit of a Dead or Alive trip at the moment. Perhaps the looming “best of best” Big Brother 2 week stint coming up has made subconsciously jogged my memory about the legend that is Pete Burns.
To most people Dead or Alive are synonymous with one track and one track only: You Spin me Round (like a record) but, out side of the UK at least, they were much more successful. Dead or Alive were so incredibly popular in Japan, for instance, that they once forced Michael Jackson to reschedule his tour around theirs! They also stayed at number one in Japan for 17 consecutive weeks with ‘Turn around and count to ten’, as well as 4 weeks as the US Dance number one - no didn’t think you’d have heard of it!
Above is a megamix of some of their hits and it’s pretty good. probably will fly above the heads of anyone not already familiar with Pete but hey - freak unique!
